Look at each bead in daylight. Natural turquoise varies in shade from bead to bead, and fine veins of matrix sit naturally in the stone rather than looking printed on. How to care for turquoise

Turquoise is soft and porous, so it can absorb oils, perfume and water, and its color can change over time. Keep it dry and away from heat and strong sun. Cleanse it with moonlight or sound, wipe it with a soft dry cloth, and store it on its own in its pouch.

Energy cleansing (gentle options):

• Moonlight: Leave it on a windowsill overnight, out of direct sun.
• Sound: Ring a singing bowl, bell or chime near it for a minute.

Everyday care:

• Keep it dry: Take it off before washing your hands, showering or swimming.
• Put it on last: Apply perfume, lotion and sunscreen first and let them dry.
• Avoid heat and strong sun: No hot cars, saunas or radiators.
• Store it on its own in its pouch so harder stones can't scratch it.
