Amethyst has been treasured for thousands of years. Its name comes from the ancient Greek amethystos, and it has long been seen as a guardian of love and a stone of calm and wisdom. In Chinese tradition, purple is the color of rising good fortune: 紫气东来, an old sign that good fortune is on its way.

This piece is a multi-wrap bracelet: a long strand of 6.5mm amethyst beads in rich, even violet that wraps one wrist about three times, finished with one large oval amethyst focal bead, a vintage-style bow-tie spacer set with tiny clear stones, and an amethyst cabochon in a vintage-style setting with a fine chain swag and a small drop. It's an original LME design, hand-strung one piece at a time, and every piece arrives in our LME gift box.

Healing Energy: Which chakras and intentions is amethyst linked with?

In crystal tradition, amethyst's violet is linked with the crown and third eye chakras, the centers of intuition, wisdom and a quiet mind. It symbolises calm focus and quiet evenings, and it is a protective stone, a guardian of devoted love, a stone of wisdom and a symbol of rising good fortune.

In crystal tradition, amethyst is linked with:

  • Calm evenings: Amethyst's cool violet is traditionally linked with quiet and gentleness.
  • Calm focus: It traditionally symbolises a clear, centered mind for study, work and decisions.

How can you tell if an amethyst bracelet is real?

To tell if an amethyst bracelet is real, look for lighter and deeper purple zones and small cloudy wisps or fine lines inside the beads. Darker color rings at the drill holes suggest dye. Round bubbles or swirl lines point to glass, and real amethyst feels cool and warms slowly in your hand.

  1. Expect natural color zones. Real amethyst often shows lighter and deeper purple areas, and sometimes soft white or clear patches. Color that is exactly the same in every bead can be a warning sign.
  2. Look for tiny natural marks. Tiny wisps and "feathers" are normal in natural amethyst because the crystal grew slowly, trapping fluid and sealing small fractures as it formed. Glass, poured from a melt, lacks those features and looks either too clean or shows round bubbles.
  3. Check the drill holes. Dye can only enter a stone through openings, so it concentrates inside the drill hole and along hairline cracks. A darker ring around the hole or colored lines following cracks is the classic trace of dyed stone.
  4. Watch for glass clues. Glass is melted and poured, so trapped air forms perfectly round bubbles and flow leaves swirl lines. Natural crystal grows slowly and shows wisps, veils or angular inclusions instead.
  5. Feel the temperature. Crystalline stone draws heat away from your skin faster than glass, and far faster than resin, so a natural bead stays cool for longer. A bead that turns warm almost at once is more likely resin or plastic. Use this only as a supporting clue, since glass can also feel cool at first.
  6. Use a loupe or your phone's macro mode. Under 10x magnification, natural stone shows irregular inclusions, from fine lines to cotton-like clouds, sitting at different depths inside the bead.
  7. Weigh it in your hand. A strand of natural stone feels solid and substantial; plastic and resin look-alikes feel noticeably light.

Every photo on this page shows the real bracelet, photographed in our studio, so you can compare what you receive with these checks.

How do I cleanse and care for an amethyst bracelet?

Cleanse your amethyst bracelet with moonlight, sound, smoke or selenite. Day to day, avoid long, strong sun, store it alone in its pouch, keep it from perfume, lotion and chlorine, and take it off before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping to protect the cord.

Energy cleansing (pick what feels right):

  • Moonlight: Leave it on a windowsill overnight, especially during a full moon.
  • Sound: Ring a singing bowl, bell or chime near the bracelet for a minute.
  • Smoke: Pass it gently through the smoke of sage, palo santo or incense.
  • Selenite: Rest it on a selenite plate or charging bowl overnight.

Everyday care:

  • Avoid long periods of strong sunlight and heat. Amethyst's purple can fade in strong sun over time.
  • Store it on its own in its pouch. A harder material scratches a softer one, so beads that rub against harder stones or other jewelry pick up fine scratches that dull their polish.
  • Keep it away from chemicals: perfume, lotion, cleaning products and chlorine.
  • Take it off before showering, swimming, exercising and sleeping. Heat, soap, chlorine and sweat break down elastic cord over time, and sleeping in a stretch bracelet keeps the cord under tension for hours, which slowly loosens it.
  • Accent care: Vintage-style accents slowly darken because their surface reacts with air, moisture, perfume and skin oils. Wiping them with a soft, dry cloth after wearing removes those residues and slows the change, and storing the bracelet in its pouch limits air exposure.

For step-by-step rituals, see our guide: How to Cleanse a Crystal Bracelet.

Which wrist should I wear my amethyst bracelet on?

Wear amethyst on your left to welcome in calm, clarity and gentle energy. Wear it on your right when you want to make a little space for yourself at the end of the day. There's no wrong answer: choose the side that matches your intention.

In crystal tradition, the left wrist is the "receiving" side. The right wrist is the "giving" or "releasing" side.

Can I customize this amethyst bracelet?

Yes. We can size your amethyst bracelet to your wrist, swap the charm or leave it off, and change the spacer accents. Send a request through our contact page to start; custom pieces are made to order just for you.

  • Wrist size: Tell us your wrist measurement and we'll size the bracelet to fit comfortably.
  • Charm & spacers: Want a different charm, no charm, or other spacer accents? We can change them.
  • Accent details: Have a question about the accents? Just ask, and we're happy to tell you more.

How do I wear a multi-wrap amethyst bracelet?

Slip your hand through the first loop, give the strand one twist, and slip your hand through again until all 3 loops sit side by side on one wrist. To take it off, roll it down over your hand instead of pulling it wide, which keeps the stretch cord strong for longer.

Read our guide to wearing a multi-wrap crystal bracelet.
